ReplyDeletesweet photos. how'd you get the michelangelo's sistine chapel photo, i thought cameras were not allowed in there!! :-0 remember to do as the romans do when in rome. I though you mis-spelled colosseum but you didnt! I wonder where the word colossal comes from? I'm so glad you are seeing these great cities. Your shot holding up the pisa tower was perfect! You held up that tower in New Zealand too remember? The Cinque Terra area looks really pretty. Was your hotel OK that we reserved? I didnt know there were baths in Bath. I have the same Ponte Vecchio shot taken 30 years ago! I've been to Sienna but never Cinque Terra. Go Kim! Explore and learn! love KEY p.s. nothing exciting happening here, boring boring
ReplyDeleteHello Kimberly!
ReplyDeleteFirst I looked at your wonderful new pictures from top to bottom, enjoying every one of them. But it was a little like going backwards in a Mr. BeeBoop time machine, so then I looked at them again from bottom to top. They were great in both directions!
I enjoyed the pictures from Bath (unlike anonymous, I knew there were baths in Bath). It's a blessing that they and the other ancient wonders of the world you and Maria have been visiting have been preserved. Here in Hollywood, there is talk about preserving a hamburger stand around the corner from the W hotel, but I digress.
I liked the picture in London, with London Bridge in the background not falling down, and from Venice, beautiful pictures of you and Maria posing next to the still waters of the canal, reflecting the colorful buildings, and from the beach with the Bell Tower on the horizon.
Florence! My favorite Italian city! That looks like the Ponte Vecchio over the Po. Spectacular shot of Florence at night from above.
And on to Sienna, where we opened the car door and unleashed Kevin when he was two. He ran completely across the square without stopping. (He's still doing that only moreso). And Pisa, featuring the classic photo of you holding up the leaning tower. Thanks! I needed that. Nice photography, Maria.
Cinque Terre! What an inspiring place. Maybe I do need to return to Italy. That must have been a wonderful hike between the picturesque cities. Then on to Rome and St. Peter's Square. (Is the Pope Catholic?) The Sistine Chapel with Michelangelo's ceiling, even more famous than the Hollywood Sign. Add me to the list of those who never succeeded in getting a picture that good, back in the day of film cameras. Pardon my skepticism, but did you possibly photograph a postcard?
The colosseum, another world classic, which is never spelled that way except on your blog and in my dictionary. Inside and outside views with no hordes of tourists? You people must have a St. Christopher's medal in your backpacks.
Thanks for the itinerary. It tells me that you are already in Spain! In Seville, with all the other great cities to follow. Check out the gazpacho soup. It's truly cool, but the famous garlic soup doesn't have enough garlic in it.
May your joyous journey continue to be enjoyable.
Love from anonymous (Hint: RWY)

ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for your comments! I assume annonymous was dad! Ya, luckily I spelled that right, but in general I can never find the spell checks because everything is always in another language!
ReplyDeleteGrandad, thanks for your detailed response!
I actually did take the picture of the Sistine Chapel, although I may have had to sneak it because its true, photos were not quite allowed.
i like that "not quite allowed"..
ReplyDeleteWhen in Rome....
Yea, how fun is all this! BB
