The Aqueduct of Segovia is one of the most significant and best-preserved monuments left by the Romans!
There is a castle in Segovia!
We went to watch the soccer game on a big screen outside the main soccer stadium in Madrid! Thats us! Spain won and it was riots in the streets!
Friends from the hostel, we went together to watch the game! The person taking our picture loaned us the flag!
Palace in Madrid
Church in Madrid
We met a bunch of people at the youth hostel and we all went out together! Pubs than clubbing!
The aqueduct is amazing. And to think they built it without cranes or laser levels. I guess it helps to have slave labor.

Yo Kim Como esta? Que bueno que estas en las bellas ciudades de Granada, Sevillas y Madrid.
ReplyDeleteAwesome medieval castle picture, with towers and walls built for defense. The Romans have aqueducts, monuments and baths all over Europe dont they? What period did they rule?
To be able to see Madrid go crazy after they beat Germany must have been really wild. We all thought Germany would win. This Sunday is the final. You will be in Barcelona! OMG! LOL! WOW! ;-0 ANDALE ESPANA GANA GANA GANA!
I so recognize the 'palace in madrid' shot! I remember that exact spot from 2007!
I see you are in Valencia now. donde is that? You reserved a hostel there? How are are the hostels? Have a great time in Barcelona next!
I went to Amber's camp yesterday for a 1.25 hour 'running' presentation to her 11 kids. I told them how great jogging is for you, showed them the ribbon and little runner they could earn if they ran one mile, and then off we went. Fortunately I had a course measurer that clicks every foot, that you push, this magic machine made everyone want to have a turn running and pushing it. Unfortunately, there was a group of, uh, 'overweight' girls who did not get into getting sweaty. But off we went and jogged a mile in the park and everybody got awards. Amber was relieved to have some other adult take charge of an activity for a little while. Jeni is teaching them hula dancing next.
It continues to be foggy and cloudy here in SB all day long every day, going into the 2nd month of it.
Que se vaya bien mi chicalita love KEY
Thanks for the comments! Ya we are in Barcelona now, thanks to our awesome planning of being in Spain when they play in the finals! (of course we knew it would happen!)
ReplyDeleteHowdy Kimber and Maria,
ReplyDeleteYour posting from Segovia and Madrid was excellent! I did not know about the Aquaduct of Segovia, but it certainly looks like it has remained much as it was nearly two millenia ago.
I appreciated your experience with the World Cup game on the big screen in Madrid. Spain won! Yea! Everybody's happy in your host country. (I couldn't find you in the crowd shot). However, you looked good in the great group photo holding the Spanish flag. Then you went Pubbing and Clubbing, which must have been fun (and it reminds me of the topic of my book project)
Today is the World Cup Final! In fact, I've got it on the TV in the bedroom. And the score is....Zero to zero. And the zuzuvelas are buzzing. The tension is terrific. Who will win? Let me know how it turned out in your next blog posting.
We think of you ever day. Your are two veteran world travellers doing your thing.
Love from Grandad
