Life is good by the beach!

The châteaux that we biked to! magnifique!

Beautiful view while biking!

Their house, the dad is an architect and he designed it! We have been staying here for almost a week!

The harbor by their house! So cute!

Roch; Franc and Diane, our host family in France! Roch stayed with us for 2 weeks in SB! Hes 18 and as you can see likes to joke around.

View of St John de Luz

Delicious dinner that they made for us in Cap Ferret! Oysters are the specialty of the region. While they are not the favorite of me and Maria, we tried them and they were very good!
Loved these photos! Great to see roch and his parents. looked like rain clouds! They have weather over there dont they? Glad you get to hang for a bit about half way through your travels. You probably miss those big dorm rooms with the snorers :-) Is that first harbor picture Urrugne? We used google earth and zoomed down to the house you are in! Franck's house is very interesting looking and unique, like a swiss farm house, kind of. I have the same opinions of oysters myself. Tu etais polie de les essayer! ou vas tu maintenant? le train a Paris est un TGV je crois, qui va 200 miles per hour.
ReplyDeleteEncore du brouillard ici a SB!

It was great Skyping you yesterday. Try skyping early morning (-9 hrs) to get amber late at night. she's off to work early each morning, she's gone when we wake up.

Hello Kim and Maria!
ReplyDeleteI loved your photos from phrance. I can see with my own eyes (looking at your pictures) that life is good by the beach, including the one where you two visited the Roch, Franc and Diane family in southern France. Speaking of beaches, Joyce and I are going to leave on Sunday to spend our annual week on the beach (Laguna), watching the waves come in. The surfers wait for the perfect wave, but we like all of them.
You looked very fit, Kim, poised to attack the trails on your bicycle in your black and yellow outfit. It must have been fun to bike to the chateau and other local attractions. It sounds like a bit of relaxation was preferable to biking up hills into the wilderness with a pack on your back (or bike).
The pictures you posted made Cap de Ferret look like a very nice place to visit, to rest up, to eat dinner and to practice your French--a pleasant interlude indeed. Not counting the mosquito bite episode.
We did indeed receive a beautiful postcard from you. It was a stunning air view of "Vernazza-Cinque Terre". I saved it for your scrapbook.
I just received an email update from your Dad, who says you finished your week with the Burgards and are now in Sarlat, a train ride from Bordeaux that features a river and a castle--and you have already done a canoe trip down the river!
Thanks for sharing your adventures with us homebodies.
Love from Grandad
